Let Saab Know What You Think!

November 19th, 2009

UPDATE – January  26, 2010 – 3:08 pm

We are happy to let you know that General Motors just announced it has reached an agreement to sell the Saab division to the Dutch luxury carmaker, Spyker Cars NV. The purchase will create a new company, called Saab Spyker Automobiles. Spyker and GM said they expected the sale to close in mid-February.

Listed below are comments from our loyal customers about their experience with the Saab brand and the Kelly Cadillac Saab dealership. We started gathering these back in November when Saab’s future was not yet settled. Feel free to add your comments as well!

I’m on the second year of my Saab experience and just love my 2003 95 Linear. I’d hate to see Kelly Saab go, they have done an outstanding job for me. Here’s a site you may want to add to your links list: SaabHistory.com

  2. Crawford Hunter says:

I have a 9-3 Saab and love the car. I was going to trade in for another new one, but from what I hear it would be a mistake. I would have to drive over 1.5 hours to get service. If the thing would break down- I would have to get it towed that distance and that would be an arm and a leg in expenses. For now, if the Saab dealerships in the area are going to be sold- I will trade it in on a Mercedes or BMW. They are not 2 hours from my house. I do not want to see the Saab dealership leave. You need one in central PA.

It would be another sad day in the automotive industry if Saab joins the ranks of Saturn and Pontiac.

Geoff Kelly and his Team are committed to their loyal customers at Kelly Cadillac Saab, and we cannot afford to lose yet another dealership in these challenging economic times.

Please explore all options to keep Saab as a luxury offering for American and international consumers alike.

I love my Saab, and I love Kelly Cadillac Saab. They have taken good care of my 2004 since I purchased it. They are always quick to respond to my call for maintenance, and are thorough and timely in taking car of my needs. They are an upscale dealership which is within reach when I need service. I would be lost without them. Please do all you can to keep them up and running. They are an asset to the Saab dealerships across the country.
    Sincerely,
    Carol Gottschalk Smith,

My ‘93 SAAB 9000 Aero remains the most enjoyable, satisfying car I’ve ever owned. I was less than thrilled as GM gradually infused its updates on SAAB while muting whoever is left in Trollhättan. Losing SAAB is not like losing Oldsmobile, Pontiac, Oakland, LaSalle, or even Saturn. SAAB proved that being safe did not have to be boring. Their improvements in safety and pollution control often led the way, an influence far beyond what its sales numbers would ever have suggested. If only someone, a knight in shining armor, as it were, would step in, let SAAB be SAAB, and infuse enough capital for its successful ongoing operations including R & D. In turn SAAB could provide its benefactor/owner with technical advances that could be incorporated in other , mass produced vehicles it manufacturers – a symbiotic relationship. I certainly think that advertising new safety and pollution control features as “developed by SAAB” would favorably influence buyers who respect SAAB’s engineering but would never seriously consider buying one. You say that I’m a dreamer? Well, I’m not the only one.

  6. Andrea says:

    I loved 900 S16v………….I’ll miss the “SAAB way”………..

  7. Martha Herr says:

I bought my first Saab this summer and have been so pleased with it and also with the excellent service I receive from Kelly. Please do not remove this franchise from them. If yuo do i will probably sell my car and buy something that can be serviced locally.

  8. Saabs are great cars!! The Saab is a perfect combination of a sporty car and luxury sedan with the highest quality safety features at an unbeatable price. Please leave our Saabs in Lancaster Count and the US!

  9. Melisa Charles says:

I had a Saab for my first car, went to an Audi for my second and regretted every second of it, and now am back to a Saab. I love it! Kelly Cadillac has always been friendly and very efficient when servicing my car. There are VERY few other mechanics in the area that know Saabs. Kelly Cadillac will be GREATLY missed if it doesn’t stay open in this area!

  10. I loved my 1994 Saab 9000 CSE for the same reason I love my Mac computer.

    Good overall design and stability.

I am looking for another Saab because of the fun I had with the 9000 CSE and I now have some money to spend to purchase one outright.

It is such an inexpensive luxury that makes all others just pale in comparison.

  11. Verna Simon says:

I own a 2007 93-Aero and I love it. I named her Frida. :-) I really enjoy my car and I haven’t had any major problems with it. I just purchased it out of its lease, but I hope I didn’t make a really big mistake. Honestly, my main concern is for servicing. I wouldn’t want Saab the company to disappear, but my biggest worry is that my WARRANTY would disappear!! I heard on NPR that some places are refusing to honor warranties for fear that they won’t be reimbursed. THAT is unacceptable, as many of us have warranty still available on our cars and even have extended warranties.

  12. Robin says:

I love my Saabs…where is Warren Buffet when you need him? He could save Saab! Let’s start a Save the Saab Fund!

  13. Dave M says:

You can’t beat a Saab for safety and reliability!

    A friend currently drives a 1998 ,900 SE and had a 1989 one before.

A great well built classy ride!

    Save the Saab!

  14. I have only owned Saabs for the last 25 years and was interested in purchasing a new one or pre-owned soon. Our oldest son learned to drive in the 97 Saab and now the younger one will be soon. You can’t beat a Saab for safety and reliability! Please do not close this dealership or any others as I fear for the future of Saab and all the reliable staff that know the car and the mechanics that have speciality training on Saabs. Look forward to visiting your dealership soon.

  15. D A Mongelli says:

As a 9-3 convertible owner, I’d hope GM realizes the 9-3 provides a product that is lacking in their portfolio otherwise. There is no 4 seat convertible. Further, with the new 9-5, 9-4x and 9-3x on the horizon the brand is at a cusp of renissance. Not only does this provide Caddy dealers with an entry luxury range of products but the brand has European market presence that Caddy hasnt been able to establish. We’d have leased a 9-4x 18months ago if the product was available when we had to replace my wife’s ride. Sorry the ladder on frame 9-7x didnt meet our wants. I hope GM sees the potential in the brand and can make a business case to keep it going.

  16. Cheryl Hollinger says:

I would be extremely upset if the Kelly Saab dealership closes because I already drive over 30 minutes to get THERE and cannot imagine going further away to get service for my Saab. I love my car. I bought it at Kelly and that dealership is the only place my car has had any work done. The service department has done an excellent job of taking care of my 9-5 AERO and making necessary repairs. Everyone else at the dealership has always been very helpful and professional. PLEASE DO NOT CLOSE THE ONLY SAAB DEALERSHIP IN OUR AREA!

    Cheryl Hollinger

  17. My family only drives Saabs. Our favoriteline was always the SPG from the 1980’s. We are estatic that Saab will not be GM anymore. We want to be able to see and drive Saab’s future.

  18. Anthony Cortes says:

I have owned a Saab for a few years and love it. Kelly may not be the closest to me but it’s the best service in central PA area. I will take my Saab 93 convertible no place else. Please keep this very competent and friendly service available to us all. Thanks.

    A.C.

  19. Roselyn Weil says:

The Saab dealer at Kelly Cadillac has been extremely helpful and sensitive to my not having a second family car when my car needs to be serviced. I appreciate the thoughtfulness given to me whenever my car needs servicing. The next closest place for my car to be serviced by a Saab expert is in Marrietta, PA, would be too far for me to go regularly for my car to be serviced. I have had Saabs since 1985. I would hate to have to go to an American dealership to get service. For me Saab is a wonderful car and I hope to continue using the excellent service at the Kelly dealership. Roselyn

  20. Matthew W nouse says:

I just bought a 2009 Saab 9-3 2.0T in August. I haven’t even done my first service yet. I will have no way to get my vehicle serviced or have warranty work done if Kelly closes. Please don’t close the dealership. Saab is not a lost hope. A decent business model and Saab can be great. They have many loyal owners and customers.

    Deal is off…

so, now what happens to Saab?

Are these dealers still closing at of 11/30?

I need warranty work done ASAP to our ‘06 97X that has a 100K Certified warranty.

  22. ReedRodman says:

I own a 2000 9-3 Saab with 110,000 miles. Not cheap on the maintenance lately but I am willing to pay it. Kelly is right down the street from my new home – very convenient. Service from Craig is outstanding and the service techs seem to do an excellent job. I was planning on keeping the Saab for a few more years amd then getting a new one but……….just got a letter from our local Volvo dealer (my wife has an S60) with an outstanding offer to upgrade to a S80. We weren’t going to but will strongly consider becoming a two Saab family if my closest Saab dealership is over an hour away from me. Wonder what Volvo will give me in trade for my Saab ?

  23. penne brown says:

I just recently bought my saab 9-3 convertible from kelly saab in january of this year. every one there from the owners to the sales
staff to the service techs are wonderful, thats why i decided to buy
my new car there. i really don’t want to go any where else for service.
then alone drive over an hour to get service if this franchise is closed.
i’ll probably trade it in for a cadillac, even though i love my saab. we
really need them here in this area.

  24. Michael Roughton says:

Kelly Saab has always been an outstanding dealership for the Saab line. The staff and service group does a commendable job. Always helpful, friendly and professional. It would be a real waste to end this commitment to the many Saab owners in Lancaster.

  25. Chuck Snyder says:

I have been a Saab owner since 1988. I have had great, reliable service from the outstanding Kelly team for years. I live in Lancaster County, and to leave the tremendously loyal Saab owners without a quality local dealership is very short sighted. A decision to leave the Kelly dealership out of the Saab business will simple move my car buying choice to another company. I would rather switch manufacturers than dealerships. Kelly has earned and deserves a Saab future!

  26. Andrea Mills says:

I am a long time SAAB enthuist. I have been driving a SAAB since I was 16. My first SAAB was a 1980 900 5 door. I love SAAB’s and everything about them It break my heart to see my local dealership go. As I have never had service there, many of my fellow SAAB enthuist have and have had great service there. I am also the current President of the Central Penn SAAB Club. We all are sadden by this change. This could be the end of SAAB’s in Lancaster County and we really don’t want to see this. As a club we have helped and have gotten help from Kelly with are event biggest event of the year. The Import/ Kit Car Show in Carlisle. I am hoping that Kelly will not go, for this would be a great loss.

    Andrea Mills
    CPSC President

  27. We are a two car Saab family, currently owning a 93 convertible and a 95. . Kelly has always provided prompt, excellent service. Please retain this dealership for Lancaster, PA. If the dealership is not in the area, I/we will likely purchase another model which can be serviced close to our home.

  28. Brandon Cox says:

I purchased my first Saab (2008 9-3 T2.0) from Kelly and could not be happier with the car and excellent service that they provide. When looking for a new car it was Kelly’s location, reputation and sales people that helped reinforced my decision to purchase a Saab. Without a local Saab dealer I would have purchased my new vehicle from a competing brand. Keep Kelly open so Saab owners can continue to get great service and praise the Saab brand.

  29. Eleanor M Lynn says:

If customers feel as strongly as these folks do about their SAAB dealer to generate this list of comments, they must be very loyal SAAB customers and this dealer must be doing things right. Based on just the evidence of the support this dealer has received from customers, I would strongly urge SAAB to retain this dealer. This is the kind of dealer SAAB needs to be successful!!

  30. Charles Shaw says:

I purchased my Saab 9-5 from Kelly and have it serviced there. I am an extremely satisfied customer. I will only purchase a new vechicle from a local dealer which means that if Kelly no longer handles the Saab franchise I will not purchase another Saab. Kelly is an excellent dealer. It would be foolish to drop this franchise.

  31. I have had wonderful service from the Kelly organizations for years. I drive out of my way to go to Kelly Saab because of the outstanding service I receive there. I would not do this for any other dealership and would definitely not consider any other dealership for my cars. I would rather switch manufacturers than dealerships.

  32. G. Lytle says:

We have purchased 2 Saabs from Kelly in the past several years. The Kelly dealership in Lancaster has provided excellent customer care in both the sales area and service after the sale. We have always purchased our vehicles from local dealerships and we will not purchase another Saab if there is not a local dealership to back up the sale with service which we consider an integral part of any vehicle purchase. We have been very pleased with our Saabs, but will consider alternate models if the Saab dealership leaves Lancaster County.

  33. Robert Neugebauer says:

Kelly Saab has provided exceptional sales services for me. My place of employment is directly across the street from Hunt Valley (Maryland) Saab, but their staff doesn’t come close to providing the support that Kelly does. This is the reason I drive an hour out of my way to visit Kelly rather than stop across the street in Hunt Valley. Please keep Kelly Saab open.

  34. Kimberly Bomberger says:

My husband and I currently own two Saabs, one for each of us, and we will be buying more in the future! Please keep Kelly Saab, it’s a fantastic dealership that has given us excellent service, including last year when my 9-3 needed service while we were visiting Lancaster. They deserve a future!

  35. Hubert Danner says:

I have been buying Saab vehicles for years. I even did the European delivery program. I can’t believe that Kelly would not be a dealer. I dealt with others
even the one in Hunt Valley, Maryland. Kelly is by far the best all around. I live In York. Why would you give up a Market such as Central Pa?
It seems very unwise… and I thought GM was meesing up SAAB.

  36. Gracey Cotton III says:

I have driven Saabs for years. I live in Lancaster County and hate to think of Kelly Saab not being there for me to service my 9-5. Please reconcider and have Kelly Saab be there for me when I need them.
P.S. Mark and Sonny are GREAT techs and always do a good job on my car I would really miss them…
